KEESING--Aleida (nee van Tijn), passed away at home on July 25, 2014, surrounded by her loving children. Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1918, she and her cherished late husband Gustaaf Keesing, DDS, fled from Antwerp, Belgium and arrived in New York in March, 1940. They shared a life-long love for one another and were blessed with 67 years of marriage. She was an exemplar of devotion for her family, spiritual strength, and wisdom, and persevered where others would have abandoned hope. She is survived by her beloved children Bette Sparago and Andrew (Linda), and grandsons Daniel and Jeffrey Keesing. She was predeceased by her parents Benjamin and Betje van Tijn, and brother Mozes, all were murdered in Sobibor, Poland in 1943. Her beloved sister, Sara van Gelder, who lived in Haifa, Israel, passed away in 2009. She was an extraordinarily devoted wife, mother, sister, and daughter-in-law, and source of love, dedication and inspiration to her many friends around the world. We will always be inspired by her love of life, her strength during great adversity, and be blessed by her love and devotion for us. Private funeral, shiva at her home on July 28, 5:00-8:00pm, and Andrew's home on July 29, 7:00-9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the New Rochelle Chapter of Hadassah, or a charity of your choice .
