Ernest Rudolf Adler, 87, of Scarsdale, NY, died from heart failure on February 1, 2016. He was loved as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and was widely respected for his honesty, loyalty, and financial acumen. Ernest was born in Berlin, Germany, to Heinrich Adler and Erna Oppenheimer Adler, on November 25, 1928. In 1938, he and his older sister Charlotte were smuggled out of Nazi Germany to Holland, and then to France. In 1941, he and his sister and mother sailed for more than three weeks on a passenger liner from Barcelona to New York. In New York, he attended Riverdale Country Day School, followed by Pratt Institute. After graduation, he joined the family leather manufacturing business in Manchester, England. In the 1960s, he moved back to New York and became a stock broker. His interest in the market would continue throughout the rest of his life. On March 1, 1969, he married Ayala Fleiss, in a ceremony in Tel Aviv, Israel. They moved to Scarsdale in 1973, where they raised their two daughters. Ernest loved living in Scarsdale, working as a stock broker, and being a husband and father. He retired in 1996, but remained an avid watcher of the market and reader of the Wall Street Journal. He passed away peacefully, with members of his family at his side. Ernest is survived by his beloved wife Ayala, his daughters Sharon Adler and Deborah Adler, and his three grandsons, Gabriel Rhodes, and Isaac and Leo Sutherland.
