Obituary for Ernest H. Mukamal
Ernest Heskel Mukamal, 83, formerly of New Rochelle, died on March 29, 2019. He was born to Abraham and Mary (Murad) Mukamal on July 17, 1935 in Baghdad, Iraq. In 1950, when he was 15, his family emigrated to the U.S. Ernest received a degree in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The City College of New York. He also served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Lynn Adelman. The couple raised three children. Ernest worked with his father in Manhattan in the import/export business for many years. He and Lynn later owned and operated Miller's Cleaners in New Rochelle. A strong, generous, and smart man, Ernest was very committed to his family and his faith. He loved to travel, near and far. He is survived by daughters Lauren Camp and Jill Gardner; son Brian; grandchildren Scott and Emilee; and sisters Hilda and Yvonne. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and 3 siblings. A Funeral Service will be held 11:15am Sunday March 31, 2019 at ZION MEMORIAL CHAPEL 785 E. Boston Post Rd. Mamaroneck, NY, followed by interment at Mt. Eden Cemetery in Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support Alzheimer’s research and prevention.
