Helen Lehrer, age 96, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2021 at the Cavalry Hospice, Bronx, NY surrounded by her family. Helen was born in Port Chester, NY the daughter of Benjamin and Martha Liberman. She is predeceased by her older brother Fred Liberman and older sister Trudy Liberman. Helen is survived, by her three children Bradford Lehrer, Neal Lehrer and Penny Lehrer and her two grandchildren, Neal’s daughter Gretta Lehrer and Brad’s daughter Rachel Lehrer. And also her 5 nieces Patte, Margie, Sheila, Susie, Carol and their families. And devoted family Carol Lehrer and Alice Arias.
Helen was born in and grew up in Port Chester, NY and worked as a beautician in New York City for the Broadway theaters and later in Port Chester at the Powder Puff on Westchester Ave. She later worked at the White Plains Hotel, Manhattanville College in Purchase and Rye Radiology. She was a life member of Hadassah and a Hadassah Award recipient for her outstanding contributions to her community and Hadassah.
Helen and Harold were married in 1947 and lived and remained in Port Chester, NY until 2016 and raised their three children there. They were lifelong members of the KTI Synagogue in Port Chester.
Helen was an active Class mother in the Edison School PTA and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She was an excellent cook and held most holiday celebrations at her home for her family and friends for more than 60 years. She was much loved and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held on December 7, 2021 at KTI Synagogue, 575 King St., Port Chester, NY at 11:00 AM with her interment to follow at Riversville Cemetery in Greenwich, CT
