Israel Izzy Schlinger, Big Daddy, Mamaronecks No. 1 Fan, Husband, Father, Proud Grandfather, World War II Veteran, and Community Volunteer. Izzy, son of the late Pauline Pepe (Kuker) and Alex Schlinger passed away peacefully 11/6/2013. He was born in the Bronx, New York. He graduated in 1942 from Townsend Harris High School associated with CUNY. After World War II he continued his education at New York University. During World War II he landed on Normandy Beach D-Day plus 30, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life, Shirley Elfman Schlinger. He was proud of working for Bache and Company for 48 years. He leaves behind children Ken and Kathy Schlinger, Dayle and Arthur Carosi, grandchildren Michael Carosi, Dr. Jennifer Schlinger, Amy Schlinger and Molly Schlinger. Also survived by brother Sol Schlinger and dear cousins. Izzy was known for being an active community volunteer. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Masons, Kiwanis, and Combat Infantrymens Association. He was Past President of Kiwanis, Past President of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Old Timers Athletic Association, and Past President/Board of Directors member for 33 years of Palmer Terrace Cooperative in Mamaroneck. He was Co-founder of the Mamaroneck High School FAN club. He was inducted into the Mamaroneck High School Athletic Hall of Fame. In the past he was Chairman of the Mamaroneck Liberal Party. Bedsides his family and friends Izzy truly loved living in Mamaroneck, New York. Izzy was 89 years young.
