Obituary for Jay Friedman
Jay Steven Friedman, a resident of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday May 15, 2017 at age 68, after a brief illness. He was born in NYC on November 25, 1948 to Julius and Paula Friedman. He grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Jay was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton HS and Long Island University. Jay played varsity football and baseball in high school and college where he was All-State. He served honorably in the NYS National Guard while attending LIU. After college, Jay pursued a teaching career. In 1977, he married Denise (nee DiNome) and they soon welcomed three beautiful daughters, Tracy Nacerino (Jason), Robin and Rebecca, the pride and joys of his life. Always a teacher at heart, Jay coached, mentored and was loved and respected by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Jay will be sorely missed by his friends and family members who will cherish the happy times spent with “Friendly Fried” at his summer home in the Catskills. Jay is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, his three daughters, son-in law, cherished grandson, Joseph Nacerino. and the entire DiNome family. A memorial service will be held at Zion Memorial Chapel 785 E. Boston Post Rd. Mamaroneck, 914-381-1809 on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NYP-Lawrence Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Palmer Avenue, Bronxville NY 10708.
