Obituary for Michael J. Strone
Michael Jonathan Strone has departed from this physical world as of February 15, 2019.
He was born on February 26, 1953 to Bernard and Judith Strone and grew up on the West Side of Manhattan. Michael began his education at the Riverdale Country School and went on to graduate from Colby College in 1974. He then went on to study law at Fordham University, graduating in 1978. His career spanned many years from his associations at private law firms, to his time at General Electric as their real estate general counsel, and into his own independent practice helping many friends and family. His interests, passions, and wisdoms were widespread and far reaching ranging from collecting antique Japanese art, vast music skills and knowledge, his connection to the religion and faith of Judaism, his spirituality, willingness to always give words of advice, and most importantly of all, his dedication and love for his family. He has touched so many people of different walks of life. His dedication to many organizations was immeasurable with his participation on the town’s zoning board, his involvement with Little League, and his cantorial work and additional services to the Jewish Community Center. His connection to the International Netsuke Society is especially noteworthy in his contributions with sharing his knowledge on the art form, mentoring new collectors, and keeping the integrity of the art form alive. His involvement as chairman of the board for the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players was a grand reflection of his passion for music. He made many contributions to the company in his keen business sense, ability to raise the spirits of many company members, and even his appearances performing in Gala events and on stage. This love also carried on to his participation with the Westchester Gilbert and Sullivan Society where he sang and performed in every single show in the repertoire. His love has been felt by many people. His attributes, passions, and values have been instilled in more people than can be counted and will be shared and passed down for many generations to come. Michael is survived by his wife, Andrea Strone, his children, Noah and Joshua Strone, and his brother, Daniel Strone.
