Nyles B. Schumaker
of Harrison, NY, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on October 9, 2018. Born June 16, 1955 in Arlington, VA, Nyles graduated from Duke University in 1975 and Columbia Graduate School of Business in 1977. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a CPA in 1978, was admitted to the partnership in 1988 and retired in 2015. Nyles was known for his uncompromising integrity, high moral character and business acumen. He was highly sought after for his personal and professional advice. Nyles was very outgoing, compassionate, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was liked by everyone. He cared deeply about others and treated everyone he encountered with friendship and the utmost respect. Nyles was extremely generous in support of numerous causes and chaired the Accountants Division of UJA Federation of New York. Despite the rigors of a demanding career, he always prioritized his family and raised four wonderful children. Nyles is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joan Labbie Schumaker, four children, Robert, Michael, Lauren and Nicole, daughter-in-law Tiffany and two grandchildren, Pierce and Jace. The funeral will be held on Friday, October 12, 1pm, at the JCC of Harrison, 130 Union Avenue, Harrison. Burial will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
