Obituary for Richard Eugene Frenkel
Dr. Richard Eugene Frenkel 87, born in the Bronx, N.Y. passed away April 17, 2012 after surgery complications and after a 2 1/2 month valiant fight. He is survived by his wife Barbara Frenkel, his sons Robert Frenkel and Joseph Frenkel, his daughter and son in law Elisabeth and Mark Heiman, his grandchildren Olivia, Noah, and Alexander. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law Diana and Howard Wendy, cousins Vira and Peter Biro, nephews and nieces Charles Frenkel, Jennifer Wendy and Andrew Beckler, Michelle and Matthew Wolfson, and many great nieces and nephews. Dr. Frenkel is a proud disabled combat veteran of WWII and received his education through the GI Bill of Rights after the war. The Frenkel family lived in Scarsdale, N.Y. for 23 years and Dr. & Mrs. Frenkel moved to White Plains after their children were graduated from college. Dr. Frenkel was preceded in death by his mother, Renee Roth, his father Herman Frenkel, his older brother Robert, and his twin brother Herbert. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Bronx VA, the Calvary Hospice/ Hospital Fund, or the Morris Heights Health Center. A funeral service will be held at Sharon Gardens Cemetery on April 19, 2012 at 1pm. Shiva will be observed directly following at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Frenkel until 9:00pm and on Friday from 2-5pm.
