Obituary for Robert Spivak
It is with great sadness that his family announces the death of Robert Spivak on September 17, 2020, at Calvary Hospital. Bob was born on August 13, 1932 in New York City. At the age of 2 years Bob came to White Plains and Benjamin and Jenny Abramson became his parents. Bob graduated from White Plains High School and attended Westchester Community College. He served 2 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Bob was a major in the NY National Guard, where he coordinated feeding first responders following the September 11th attacks. Bob was a successful businessman, who owned several businesses. Among them Abbey Richmond Ambulance Company, Clover Donuts, Grandma’s Pies and Armonk Limousine. Bob was active in the White Plains Community. He was a member of Kiwanis, where he served as president and the White Plains Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as an assistant fire chief. Bob also served on the Salvation Army Board and drove the truck in parades and to disasters to feed first responders. Bob was honored by the Salvation Army and The Family Service Society of Westchester for his good works. He also received the Carnegie Medal for Heroism for risking his life to save a life. Bob is survived by his devoted children Toby Ruiz, Jonathan Spivak and Amy Spivak; his cherished grandchildren Shane Everly, Arianna, Alexis and Raquel Ruiz and Joanna and Remo Spivak; and loving nieces Michelle Subin-Friedman, Diane Abramson and nephew Morton Friedman; and several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his “favorite friend” Jose Pacheco. Bob is predeceased by his parents; brothers Jack and Ruby Abramson and sister Eva Friedman. A graveside service will be held at 1:30PM on Friday September 18, 2020 at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. The family would like to thank the Kensington staff for the loving care Bob received during the years he lived there.
